REVIEW: The Nice Guys on 4k UHD
Fresh from Warner Bros. is yet another fine legacy title getting its proper 4k UHD treatment. Set to release on 2/11, we get THE NICE GUYS!
I can remember seeing this movie with a packed crowd at the Arclight in Hollywood - the good ‘ol’ days
I can officially confirm this is A NICE TRANSFER!!!
Warner gave us the Double Dolby fare on this bad boy - Dolby Vision / Dolby Audio.
This to me is the best 4k transfer since Game Night!
The film takes place mostly at night and takes full advantage of the Dolby Vision / HDR actually working in its favor enhancing the picture’s brightness and black levels being balanced. I didn’t have to adjust any of my settings for this film.
Front and back details are crispy crisp and the picture is just gorgeous to stare at! You can see facial details strong and clothing textures very details - even the background images are detailed.
The Dolby Atmos track is awesome too! Dialogue is clear and the action hits hard.
Though, I was hoping to not to have to adjust levels as frequent for a Dolby Atmos track with transition sequences from action to low dialogue - it’s still a strong sounding track.
You’ll just likely have to adjust here and there, but to me the picture transfer alone on this one is what sells it for me and makes it A MUST OWN to add to your physical media collection.
